Thoughts in actions

We all go through life defining our unique journey, travelling along an unique pathway.  Our genes and our culture, geography, relationships, passions, experiences, shape and change our identity at every stage of our life. As we evolve, they bound our horizon of potential future paths.

Every instant, only one of these infinite future potentials actually materialises into the present. At the same time, every step we take is removing some potential side tracks and consolidating our main path of becoming.

Eventually, choices we make throughout our life are like soft bounces within a narrowing funnel. Shall we make a decision or its opposite, we may be relatively that different from who we are at a given time, but we would not be a total stranger to our conditiniong nature. Any decision may be later balanced by another one, and still keeps us within our range of potential becoming. We have full control of our destiny, within a define interval of potentials.

Premises

At birth, and at every instant in life, there is an infinity of possible paths of becoming for a single individual. Every path that belongs to the future is uncertain: it is in a state of potential. Our future lies somewhere within a restricted interval of life potentials.

Going through life, at every step we take, a single possible path for our future becomes real. This means that, at every instant, one single potential state materialises into reality. Other paths become inaccessible. They are left into a state of unrealised potential: “what could have happened”.

This also means that as a potential gets realised, our interval of life potential gets smaller. Fewer paths of becoming are available to us, as some paths become inaccessible. We are progressing towards a smaller area of potential futures.

The path of potential we actually realise is the unique combination of all our inner and outer influences that determine our thoughts, decisions and actions.

Reading keys

  • Each coloured round represents a potential decision that an individual will have to make in their life.

  • The tree of influences nurture the factors that will influence those decisions.

  • The grey path, linking coloured dots to one another, is the path of becoming: the succession of life decisions for a particular individual

  • The white paths are potential paths that won’t materialise in reality.

  • The rounds are organised into three triangular shapes, made of:

    • - One round circled in grey at the bottom, representing the starting point as a current state.

    • - A line of rounds at the top, representing the potential destinations as an interval of possible becomings, possible states.

    • - In the middle, a number of rounds representing potential decisions that will define our next state.

  • These three triangles represent key stages of life: childhood, teens and adulthood, with associated chakra’s colours.

  • Ultimately this triangular pattern is infinite and reproduces at every instant of life: we are constantly making decisions that can lead us anywhere within a finite interval. At every instant, we are at a new crossroad of our becoming.

  • The tree of influences samples four types of outer factors that shape the decisions we make: geography (where), relationships (who) and passions (why).

  • The branches of the tree interfere more and more with the coloured rounds as outer influences increase with time. When we grow older, we are exposed to a wider range of influencing factors and may be able to take some control over some genetic traits.

IF

  • [ a ; z ] is the interval of all humankind states

  • p i  ( [ a ; z ] ) is an interval of an individual’s potential becoming

  • r is the function of real becoming: r transforms a real state point to its next becoming state point:
    r i+1 = r o r i

  • p is the function of potential becoming: p transforms a real state into its interval of potential becoming depending on where the real state sits within its initial interval:
    p i+1 =  p i o r

THEN

  • An individual’s interval of potential becoming is smaller than the interval of all humankind states: p i ϵ [ p ia ; p iz ]

  • An individual’s real state is always contains within an interval of potential states: r i ϵ p i

  • Each interval of potential becoming is smaller than the previous one  p i+1 ϵ p i
